π¬ Real Talk: Careers, Education, and Everything In Between
In the summer of 2024, Sergey Lukichev, Engineering Lead at Zalando, and I met in Berlin to have an informal chat about life, education, and careers. Since we are both native Russian speakers, we chose to speak in Russian for a more relaxed conversation (apologies to those who donβt speak Russian!). We casually discussed our views on some of the most relevant topics today.
π In this conversation, we touched on:
- π How to apply to a university in Germany
- π©πͺ βGermany was better beforeβ β is that true?
- π Immigration as a vicious cycle
- βοΈ Germany as a starting point β yes or no?
- π’ Corporate culture in Germany and its variations
- π©βπ» Hiring women in IT
- π The value of higher education in Germany
- π Who is a Data Scientist?
- π Is in-depth education really necessary?
- π Germanyβs education system: focused on practice
- βοΈ Why practice outweighs theory in IT
- π The difference between a Data Scientist and a Data Analyst
- π How to get started in Data Analytics
- π Curiosity as a key to success
- π€ AI as a work assistant
- π Is Berlin a livable city?
- π― Education focused on employability
- πΆ Salaries in IT
- π IT Salary Survey
It was a relaxed and insightful conversation covering everything from personal growth to the nuances of working and studying in Germany. ππ©πͺ
